Every 2nd and 4th Saturday, the Awana Club in Brgy. Bungad becomes a vibrant place filled with laughter, learning, and the love of God. Since 2014, passionate volunteers have faithfully gathered children from outreach areas to experience the joy of knowing Jesus through Bible stories, memory verses, and fun, team-based games. The Awana program’s goal is to reach young hearts with the Gospel, helping them grow in confidence, discipline, and moral values while having fun with friends.
Each class combines creativity and faith—teachers prepare colorful visuals, PowerPoint presentations, prizes, and snacks to make lessons engaging. Children, being mostly visual learners, love the interactive stories and games that bring biblical truths to life. Teachers also prepare their hearts in prayer, understanding that the attitudes they model greatly influence the children they teach.
Though challenges arise—from preparing props to managing different personalities—volunteers find strength in seeing the children’s genuine smiles and enthusiasm. Their joy and innocence serve as reminders of why this ministry matters so deeply.
As the Awana ministry continues to shine God’s light in the community, everyone is encouraged to pray for the teachers and children. Pray for wisdom, faithfulness, and steadfast passion to serve; for each child to have an open heart to God’s Word; and for every family to experience God’s provision and grace. Together, let us lift them up in prayer as they continue nurturing the next generation of Christ-followers.
