Embracing The Gift Of Communication: OUR CHURCH'S DEAF MINISTRY

In today’s diverse and dynamic world, our church embraces inclusivity and understanding, and at the heart of this mission is our Deaf Ministry. This vital program reaches out to members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, affirming the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to hear, experience, and share the Word of God, regardless of hearing ability.
The Deaf Ministry is not just a segment of our church; it is a blossoming community filled with love, support, and connection. For many within our congregation who live with hearing challenges, feeling isolated or disconnected during services can often be a painful experience. But through this ministry, we create a space that fosters inclusion, allowing each individual to fully engage with their faith and the community around them. Experience it with our Deaf choir.
One of the cornerstone elements of the Deaf Ministry is the use of Filipino Sign Language (FSL). We offer monthly interpretation service during our church services, led by trained volunteer interpreters. We praise God for Ms. Rhona Munoz, Ms. Gladys Albano and Dr. Joy Lim. Interpretation ensures that our deaf community members can fully understand the sermons, songs, and Bible readings. Additionally, our interpreters also participate in church meetings and events, which significantly enhances the level of communication among all church members.
Pray with us in our Saturday Dawn Prayer meetings. This is a prayer time that helps build meaningful relationships between hearing and deaf members of our congregation together. Through these interactions, we cultivate a stronger sense of unity and fellowship within our church, transcending the barriers that might otherwise divide us.
Furthermore, we regularly have our worship gatherings and fellowship experience specifically designed for our deaf congregants. Our Bible Study, Sunday School and Bible Story sessions provide a great opportunity for fellowship, sharing experiences, and nurturing friendships within the deaf community. They reinforce our belief that everyone, irrespective of their hearing status, plays an essential role in the body of Christ.
Our Deaf Ministry is not solely about communication; it is also about emotional and spiritual support. Many of our deaf members face challenges that extend beyond mere access to communication—the sense of belonging is paramount. Through small groups, prayer partners, and mentoring programs, we ensure that our deaf community feels seen, heard, and supported in their faith journeys.
As a church family, it is our responsibility to embrace each member and meet them where they are. By fostering an environment of acceptance and love, we encourage our entire congregation to embody the true spirit of Christ—to love one another and serve together, united in our differences.
In conclusion, our Deaf Ministry reflects our commitment to inclusivity, love, and understanding. We praise and thank God that we were able to attend the 1st World Deaf Christian Conference held in First Baptist Church of Curitiba, Brazil.
Attending events, or simply being open to learning and connecting with our deaf community. Together, we can make our church a more welcoming and supportive space for everyone.
